Privacy Policy

Data We Process

PromptMute processes text that you paste, type, import, or drag into the app. This can include emails, logs, API keys, customer information, documents, and other content that you choose to provide.

Processing happens on your device in the local browser or desktop WebView.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not require an account for core workflows.
• We do not upload your source text.
• We do not upload cleaned text.
• We do not upload placeholder mapping data.
• We do not call OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or other AI APIs.
• We do not include third-party analytics SDKs.
• We do not sell personal data.

Local Storage

By default, restore mapping data is kept only for the active session.

If you enable Save last mapping, PromptMute stores the latest mapping locally using browser Web Crypto.

• PBKDF2-SHA-256 key derivation.
• AES-GCM encryption.
• Encrypted payload stored in local app storage.

Exported Files

Some exports are designed to be safe to share:

• Privacy reports do not include original sensitive values.
• Batch safe JSON exports do not include original sensitive values.

Mapping exports are different. A mapping export includes original values and should be treated as sensitive local data.

Network Use

The current app does not require network access for core detection, redaction, restore, mapping, batch processing, or privacy report workflows.

Your Choices

• You can clear the active session at any time.
• You can disable Save last mapping.
• You can clear saved mappings from the Privacy panel.
• You can delete exported files from your device.
• You can choose which detections are enabled before cleaning text.
